CHIP LOVING: This morning water had come all the way around and filled this entire driveway section.

BILLY SHIELDS: A new water issue came up for Henrico residents like Chip Loving Thursday morning.

As a water main break reduced their taps to a trickle and flooded their yards.

CHIP LOVING: Our whole side and front was completely flooded.

So she ended up getting on the passenger side of the car, got across, and came in and was like, ‘we've got a little flooding issue.

And it appeared that a waterline had broken somewhere.

Wide open.

Running water, like a river.

BILLY SHIELDS: County officials say some 40 households in the area were affected, and the westbound lane of a portion of Monument was closed before the morning rush hour into the evening.

St. Mary's Hospital lies across the street.

While it did have suspended water service, a spokesperson there said it was restored quickly, albeit with reduced pressure.

CHIP LOVING: Yeah, we did notice, too.

It's appears they've turned on a fire hydrant.

BILLY SHIELDS: Henrico County officials said that was being done to flush the system, and attributed the break to ongoing cold.

They estimated it should be fixed by the evening.
